How I use AI to run this blog (without turning it into spam)

AI helps me publish several posts a week here. Here's the exact workflow, the rules I keep, and why every post still goes through me.

I want to be upfront about something: AI helps me write this blog. I think you should know how, and I think the way I do it is useful if you're thinking about doing the same for your business.

Why I don't let AI publish on its own

It's easy to set up a robot that writes and publishes ten articles a day. Google has a name for that: scaled content abuse, and it's one of the main targets of its spam updates. More importantly, those posts are boring. They say what every other post says, because that's what the AI read.

The things worth reading here are the things only I can add: what I saw on a client project, what I'd actually choose, what I think is overhyped.

The workflow

  1. Morning scan. An AI assistant reads a short list of sources I trust (Google Search Central, framework blogs, AI lab announcements, tech news) and pitches me three topics with an angle for each.
  2. I pick and add my take. I choose one and add a sentence or two: my opinion, or a client story that fits.
  3. AI writes a draft. It drafts the post as a change to this site's code, with sources linked. That creates a private preview link.
  4. I review the preview. I read it like a visitor would, fix what's wrong, cut what's fluff, and check every fact that matters.
  5. I approve and it publishes. Nothing goes live until I merge it. If a post isn't good enough, it doesn't go out.

The rules I keep

  • Every fact gets a source or comes from my own work.
  • No post just to hit a keyword. If I wouldn't send it to a client, it doesn't get published.
  • My name means I checked it. The byline isn't decoration.
  • Fewer, better posts. Three good posts a week beat seven forgettable ones.

Could you do this for your business?

Yes, and you don't need to be technical. The important part isn't the AI. It's the review step. Use AI to save time on research and first drafts, and spend the time you saved on the part customers notice: your own experience.
